The role of Reykjavík University (RU) is to increase competitiveness in the Icelandic marketplace through entrepreneurship, technological development and globalization.

The main goal is to provide students with wide-ranging options by emphasizing a strong academic foundation enabling them to continue their studies or to enter the job market immediately upon completion of their studies. The aim is also to shape a university known for its teaching and research efforts.

There are three schools operating within Reykjavík University: the School of Law, the School of Computer Science and the School of Business. In addition, the Executive Education program at RU offers various innovations in the fields of management, business and technology.

The School of Computer Science provides demanding and practical education;
preparing students for a career as a computer science professional or for further academic studies.

At RU school of computer science the study programme is aimed at enabling students to use recognised, modern techniques of software development. The core characteristic of the study program is project work, including both group and individual projects. From the foundation of the University the School of Computer Science has emphasized on distance education. Approximately 31% of our students are enrolled in "Distance Learning" and "University Study while Working" programs.

The School of Computer Science offers a three year program leading to a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree and a additional two year program leading to a Master of Science (MS) degree. The School of Computer Science is proud to participate in the codewitz project and has high expectations regarding the project.
